Ostinato - Chasing the Form
It’s amazing the things you can hear going on in the lush layering of Ostinato’s sound. Indie rock, stoner/doom, surf, orchestral, prog/math, The Beatles, jazz, chillout, all wrapped up in an experimental mindset. The music shifts easily from melancholy uberpoignant softness to boiling unrest, this also imbued with bittersweet beauty, with high, soft, clean vocals completing the picture. Ostinato creates such a place of embraceable sadness, such a land of afterlife etherea, that it’s hard to move back to the real world; one is loathe to leave behind such a gorgeous passing away..

OSTINATO LEFT TOO FAR BEHIND EXILE ON MAINSTREAM RECORDS
The debut full-length CD from this Arlington, VA-based prog-rock trio is a sonic adventure into an intricate world of the band's own making. With slow, plodding development, Ostinato's songs build to a level of complication and exhilaration that few bands can match. The fact that Ostinato was signed by a German label gives this band a definite edge in a business where an American label would pressure the band to put out a pop tune once in a while. The Germans thrive on complex orchestral-type tunes with pretentious choral work (much like Wagnerian opera). The sheer quantity of noise that this trio of musicians packs into a song is amazing. This album may not appeal to pop/punk enthusiasts, but for those who enjoy Coheed and Cambria, Pink Floyd, and Radiohead, this is a godsend. - DUG

It's hard to believe that this amount of music is made by only three people. Truly a "wall of sound," their swirling guitars, bass and drums, which slowly build up by repetition. The vocals feel out of place, interrupting the cool vibe created by the instruments. Luckily, they are sporadic enough not to get in the way. - (AL) www.impactpress.com

Ostinato – “Left Too Far Behind” CD 8/46:29 When this record first started playing, I got excited thinking it was the second coming of Codeine. Well, it’s not that good, but this group is definitely mining a similar territory to Codeine and Rex in their mellower moments and then rocking out like June of 44 when their blood gets to boiling. And it is a decent listen, I can’t really expect anyone to come out with an album as good as “The White Birch” anyways. - Jake www.shreddingradio.com

Spex und Intro präsentieren DIARIO und OSTIANTO TO (from june 2003)
